FAQ

Short answers to what server owners ask most.

Is Mako vanilla?

By default, yes. With the default settings, the game plays the same as plain Minecraft. Anything that changes gameplay is off by default. Every optimization can be checked against normal behavior.

Do farms work?

Yes. Farms are never nerfed. Iron farms, gold farms, crop farms, mob farms and redstone work like vanilla.

Which plugins work?

Mako is based on Folia, so plugins must support Folia. Many older Paper plugins do not. At startup, the plugin checker shows which of your plugins are safe on Mako and Folia.

Do I get the source code?

Yes. Mako is GPL-3.0, like Paper and Folia. Buyers can request the full source.

What does the dashboard send?

Server stats only, such as TPS, MSPT and region load. It does not send player IP addresses. Your license key is never shown in full.

Which Java do I need?

Java 25. Some hosts still default to Java 21. Run java -version to check. More in the docs.

What happens if my license stops?

Your server keeps running. A license gives you updates and support. It never stops or breaks a running server.

Can Bedrock and old clients join?

This is planned. It is not in the current build.

Where can I host Mako?

On any machine or host that can run Java 25. Our benchmarks ran on a shared hosting plan with 4 CPU threads. The setup is on the benchmarks page. Your numbers depend on your hardware, plugins and players.

I run a hosting company. Can I test Mako?

Yes. If you want to run your own benchmarks on your hardware, get in touch.

How much does it cost?

There will be monthly and lifetime plans. Prices will be announced soon. See pricing.
